 | Ann: Revised! AGAIN!! The last explanation I gave probably sound too Mormon-ish. I don't think of myself to be in any denomination (even if I was, I have NO idea which one), but I'll list the 3 basics of what I believe:
Only by grace in His sacrifice are we saved and not by any works. I'm keeping this short, my last one really sounded ambiguous...
The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one in the Trinity. I won't get into details because I suck at explaining what I believe about the Trinity. Any jokes about God having MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder) will be swiftly dealt with by severe preaching :P
Change comes as a result of getting saved. If you truly have given yourself to Him, you would love Him as you do your Father and Lord. And as a loving son/daughter you would want to do your best to appease Him. I don't serve the Lord because I'm afraid that He'll punish me for not listening to His rules or that I might "lose" my salvation--but simply that He is my Father, and I want to make Him happy and proud. (Even though I still screw up frequently as the rebelling daughter I am ^^; Sorry, Dad, I'm still working on it!!)
Mave: Lots. But three things to help summarize. 1) We are all sinners and have fallen short of God's Glory aka Original Intention. 2) We CANNOT save ourselves by our own works/good deeds. Only by through God's plan of salvation, will we be saved from Judgment. 3) The Good News is God wants to save us from it and He gave us Jesus Christ as the Way. God does not send us to Hell. We ultimately decide our own fate. Disagree? Email me.
UC: A summary is in my profile, but otherwise I'm not going to crunch it to anything short enough for here. |
| Are you one of those crazy fanatical/Jack Chick-type/fascist/Nazi Christians? |
 | Ann: ::Rolls eye:: Gee, you better run. I might.... preach or something equally horrifying. If you're so scared--ah, scared is such a harsh word, um... If you are apprehensive about "God talk" then I suggest you keep reading until your phobia ebbs away. If you find "God talk" hilarious, well, I guess turnabout is fair play since I roll my eyes/chuckle/crack sarcastic and cynical jokes/mutter humorously/share a guffaw with fellow brothers and sisters about various worldly stuff too.
Pfft, "nazi"..."fascist"... Go read a history book or a dictionary to enlighten you just what the word means. Or maybe you just need more practice in comparative reasoning? Okay, okay, that's enough offending remarks for one question. ^^;; (I'm so going to get flamed.)
Mave: *takes out fire extinguisher* |
| Why are you pushing your beliefs on me/people? |
 | Ann: Maybe it's just you that's too sensitive? Wait! Don't flame me yet!! I mean, for me personally, pushing a belief has something to do with force or intrusion. Like if I were to intrude to a personal site with different opinions than mine and continuously annoy the person who obviously doesn't welcome me (troll the guestbook for instance *cough*). Or hold a person at knife-point and say something like, "Turn or burn, sinner!" Many of us spread the word via our own sites (all Christians are called to spread the gospel one way or another) and so I hardly think any of us is "pushing" our beliefs on the visitor because, yeah, the visitor is the one who entered by his/her own will in the first place.
Also, despite being commanded to spread the gospel, you got to understand that what we believe in is truth to us. It's not a matter of feeling "holier" than others or trying to get more "members" --it's kinda like we see our neighbor's house burning. Are we to idly sit by? If a Christian truly believes that those without Christ will perish... I honestly believe that person would try his/her best to try and let people know of this choice even if it means death in a few countries, being mocked, and ostracized. Again, what kind of person would one be if he/she truly believes that many are going to make the biggest mistakes of their existence and does absolutely nothing? Especially if it's for the sake of blending in and being "open-minded" or "tolerant". I admit that I still feel I don't evangelize enough because all my "crazy talk" is just centered around Christian sites. And more than a few times I fall to the "must blend in and be open-minded" as well.
We have to deal with people everywhere and everyday using to name of our Lord as a curse word (What? Hitler's too good for the honor?) and even though I personally will state it really annoys me, I still won't force the other person to stop. Free speech, right? But then again, there's the trend that free speech is only "cool" when speaking freely against authority. And to rebel against God has got to be the ultimate high for the rebellious person. It's understandable.
Mave: *removes safety key from fire extinguisher* |
| Why do you say/do this/that/those thing(s)? Isn't that un-Christian? |
 | Ann: Um, I'm working on it ^^; And I'm also a living testimony that "a belief can't be wholly judged by its followers". If a so-called Christian murders someone, does it mean Christianity teaches killing? Nope. I still find myself as one of those believers that still harbors many quirks and bad-habits from my "rebelling stage". I curse, I'm cynical, I'll chew-and-spit-out those that REALLY get on my nerves, I offend people--repeatedly... hooo boy. Thankful that He loves me anyway. ^^; (I need more salt and light in my life! ARGH!) But yeah, I'm WAY better than before, so I guess I'm still growing in faith!
Mave: I guess it's safe to say that we don't proclaim any form of perfection as Christians. We're just a bunch of hobby artists/writers who wish to use this form of entertainment to share the Good News and encourage Christian values. *sets aside fire extinguisher* |
| Can I send you prayer requests? |
 | UC: If you wish to post prayer requests online, we would encourage you to explore options such as Christian forums. Who knows, we might see you there. We’d also be thankful for any prayers you would be so kind as to send in our behalf. |
